About Ascott Estate
Ascott Estate is a historic and evolving 4,400-acre rural estate centred around our beautiful 19th-century house in Wing, Buckinghamshire.
Our renowned gardens, dating back to the late 19th century, extend across more than 250 acres and welcome over 50,000 visitors each year between March and September. The Estate features an exceptional collection of native and non-native plants, shrubs and parkland trees, creating a unique and inspiring working environment.
We are passionate about both our Estate and the people who work here. By joining us, you will become part of a welcoming and supportive team in a truly beautiful rural setting.
The Role
Working as part of the gardening team, you will help maintain the gardens and cricket ground at Ascott Park, as well as other areas across the Estate.
This varied role includes:
- Maintaining ornamental gardens, shrubs and planting schemes
- Mowing and caring for extensive lawns and grassed areas
- Assisting with general grounds maintenance across the Estate
- Supporting the preparation and upkeep of the cricket pitch to a high standard (full training will be provided)
- This is a 39-hour-per-week position with an early finish on Fridays. Start and finish times will vary throughout the year depending on seasonal requirements.
- Weekend working will be required during the summer months on a rota basis, and you must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.

- Minimum of 2 years' gardening experience
- Knowledge of plant husbandry and horticultural techniques
- Experience operating tractors and pedestrian mowers
- A good understanding of health and safety practices within a horticultural or grounds maintenance environment
- A willingness to learn and develop new skills within Ascott's unique blend of formal and natural gardens
